These Terms govern the conditions and procedures for using the MEDLEE service (the “Service”) operated by MEDLEE (the “Company”), as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and its members.

Article 1

Purpose

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the medical interpreter matching platform service provided by the Company, as well as the rights, obligations, responsibilities, and other necessary matters between the Company and its members.

Article 2

Definitions

The terms used in these Terms are defined as follows.

  1. “Service” means the medical interpreter matching platform (MEDLEE) provided by the Company, including interpretation request posting, interpreter applications, matching, chat, reviews, and all related services.
  2. “Member” means a person who has agreed to these Terms and completed registration, including hospital members (requesting organizations) and interpreter members.
  3. “Hospital member” means a representative of a medical institution, clinic, or related organization that requests medical interpretation services.
  4. “Interpreter member” means an individual who has registered to provide medical interpretation services.
  5. “Matching” means the process in which an interpreter member applies to a hospital member's interpretation request and the hospital member confirms it.
  6. “Ticket” means an interpretation request posted by a hospital member.
Article 3

Posting and Amendment of Terms

  1. The Company posts the contents of these Terms on the service's initial screen or a linked screen so that members can easily review them.
  2. Where necessary, the Company may amend these Terms within the scope that does not violate applicable laws. When amending, the Company will specify the effective date and reason and announce it within the service at least 7 days before the effective date.
  3. For amendments unfavorable to members, the Company will announce them at least 30 days before the effective date, and if a member does not express refusal within that period, the member is deemed to have agreed.
Article 4

Registration

  1. Registration is concluded when an applicant agrees to these Terms, enters member information in the form prescribed by the Company, applies, and the Company approves the application.
  2. The Company may refuse registration or cancel it afterward in any of the following cases:
    • The application uses another person's identity
    • False information was entered or required documents were not submitted
    • Technical issues or other reasons reasonably determined by the Company
  3. If there is any change to the information entered at registration, the member must immediately update it in profile settings or notify the Company.
Article 5

Withdrawal and Restriction of Membership

  1. A member may request withdrawal at any time through 'Account Settings' within the service, and the Company will process it immediately.
  2. If there is a matching in progress, withdrawal is possible after that matching is completed or cancelled.
  3. The Company may restrict or suspend membership in any of the following cases:
    • False documents are confirmed during identity verification
    • Serious harm is caused to another member
    • Acts prohibited by law or these Terms are committed using the service
    • Matchings are repeatedly cancelled or not fulfilled without just cause
Article 6

Company's Obligations

  1. The Company will not engage in acts prohibited by applicable laws or these Terms, and will do its best to provide the service continuously and reliably.
  2. The Company maintains a security system to safely manage members' personal data, and discloses and complies with its privacy policy.
  3. In the event of a service failure, the Company will strive to repair and restore it without delay.
Article 7

Member's Obligations

Members must not engage in the following acts:

  • Registering false information when applying or making changes
  • Unauthorized alteration of information posted by the Company
  • Transmitting or posting information (such as programs) other than that designated by the Company
  • Infringing the intellectual property rights of the Company or third parties, such as copyrights and patents
  • Damaging the reputation of, or interfering with the business of, the Company or third parties
  • Using another party's personal data obtained through the service for purposes other than the service
  • Providing false information about medical practice or brokering unqualified medical practice
  • Failing to attend a matched interpretation appointment without prior notice
Article 8

Scope of the Service

The services provided by the Company are as follows.

Interpretation request (ticket) posting

A feature for hospital members to post interpretation requests by entering required language, schedule, location, hourly rate, and more.

Interpreter applications and matching

A feature for interpreter members to apply to open requests and for hospital members to select and confirm them.

1:1 chat

A safe communication channel between parties before and after matching.

Identity verification system

A verification process that confirms members' identity and qualifications.

Two-way review system

A feature for mutual evaluation and trust-building after a matching is completed.

Service hours

The service is, in principle, provided 24 hours a day, year-round. However, it may be temporarily suspended for unavoidable reasons such as system maintenance or equipment repairs, which will be announced in advance.

Article 9

Matching and Contracts

  1. The Company is a platform operator that brokers matching between hospital members and interpreter members, and is not a party to the interpretation service itself.
  2. After a matching is confirmed, the actual provision of the interpretation service is governed by a direct contract between the hospital member and the interpreter member.
  3. Responsibility for the quality of the interpretation service, the accuracy of the interpretation, schedule adherence, and similar matters lies with the party directly performing the service.
  4. If a confirmed matching must unavoidably be cancelled, the counterparty must be notified as quickly as possible, and repeated cancellations may be grounds for restriction of membership.
Article 10

Identity Verification

  1. All members must complete the identity verification process prescribed by the Company after registration in order to use the service normally.
  2. Documents required for verification (ID, business registration certificate, qualifications, etc.) are used only for verification purposes, and originals are destroyed after verification is complete.
  3. The Company strives to complete verification within 24 hours, though it may be delayed due to incomplete documents or similar reasons.
  4. If you object to the verification result, you may request re-verification by submitting additional documents.
Article 11

Chat and Communication

  1. Before a matching is confirmed, personal contact details (phone number, email, etc.) in chat are automatically masked, and communication takes place only through in-platform chat.
  2. After a matching is confirmed, mutual contact details are disclosed to facilitate smooth work.
  3. Chat contents are retained for a certain period for dispute resolution and service quality management.
  4. Sending inappropriate messages such as profanity, discriminatory remarks, sexual harassment, or spam may result in restriction of service use.
Article 12

Review System

  1. After a matching is completed, hospital members and interpreter members may write mutual reviews.
  2. Reviews are rated on three criteria—accuracy, attitude, and punctuality—and a text review may be added.
  3. False reviews, malicious slander, defamation of other members, and similar content may be deleted or corrected, and the author's service use may be restricted.
  4. Submitted reviews are disclosed to other members and used as reference for matching decisions.
Article 13

Intellectual Property

  1. Copyright and intellectual property rights in the service belong to the Company.
  2. Members may not, without the Company's prior consent, reproduce, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use information obtained through the service for commercial purposes, or allow third parties to use it.
  3. Copyright in content posted by a member within the service (reviews, profiles, etc.) belongs to that member, and the Company may use it for the purpose of operating and improving the service.
Article 14

Limitation of Liability

  1. The Company only performs the role of brokering matching between hospital members and interpreter members, and bears no direct responsibility for the quality or outcome of the interpretation service.
  2. The Company is exempt from liability where it cannot provide the service due to force majeure such as natural disasters, war, or service suspension by telecommunications carriers.
  3. The Company is not responsible for service disruptions caused by a member's own fault.
  4. For services provided free of charge, the Company bears no liability unless otherwise specifically provided by applicable law.

Disclaimer regarding medical practice

MEDLEE is not a service that provides or brokers medical practice. The Company bears no responsibility whatsoever for medical judgments or medical incidents arising in the course of the interpretation service.

Article 15

Dispute Resolution

  1. In the event of a dispute between the Company and a member regarding these Terms, both parties will negotiate in good faith for an amicable resolution.
  2. If no agreement is reached, a lawsuit may be filed with the competent court under applicable law.
  3. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
Article 16

Miscellaneous

Matters not provided for in these Terms and the interpretation of these Terms are governed by relevant laws such as the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
  2. These Terms are provided in Korean and English versions. In the event of any discrepancy in interpretation between the Korean and English versions, the Korean version shall prevail.
